Young all-rounder Vicky Ostwal has named ace India spinner and batter Ravindra Jadeja as his role model and said that he has always idolized the Saurashtra cricketer. Ostwal was part of the India U19 team’s recent ICC Youth World Cup victory in the Caribbean.
Ostwal was one of the shining players for the Indian U19 team which defeated the England side in the finals in Antigua and won their fifth U19 World Cup title under the captain of Yash Dhull. India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and Ostwal picked 12 wickets in six matches, the most for India, including the best figures of 5/28.
While talking in a video shared by the official Twitter handle of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Vicky Ostwal revealed that he idolizes Ravindra Jadeja, as he contributes to all aspects of the game.
“I have always idolized Ravindra Jadeja, he is my role model. The kind of player he is, he contributes in bowling, in batting, and the most important department is fielding. He is the guy that every team wants him in,” said the spinner.
It Was Really Soothing When I Got Picked By Delhi Capitals (DC) In IPL 2022 Auction- Vicky Ostwal
Vicky Ostwal was amongst the few India U19 World Cup winners who were lucky to find a team in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) auction which was held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.
Ostwal was bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 20 lakh at the IPL 2022, mega auction in Bengaluru, on Sunday.
“I have been watching the IPL ever since I was a kid. There was always a dream of playing in the IPL, as it is the biggest platform you can get. I am really that I got picked by Delhi Capitals for this year’s IPL. I was in my room, watching the auction and my name came very late. I knew that I did well in the T20 U-19 World Cup but at the same time it was a mega auction, so I thought they will go with their same side and there might be some chances that I may not get picked. For two days, I had anxiety and it was really soothing when I got picked by DC,” said Ostwal in a video posted on the IPL website.
Ostwal will join the World Cup-winning India U19 captain Yash Dhull in the DC camp, who was bought for INR 50 lakhs. Ostwal knows that he might not get a chance to play a game for DC, but said that sharing such a stage with some great players will be a huge learning experience for him.
“Not sure that I might get a chance or not get a chance to play, but learning will always be there. Sharing the stage with some of the great players will be huge learning for me. The moment I got picked at the auction, I got a video call from him (Yash Dhull) and he showed how happy he is about me being picked by DC,” he added.
