Young Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Mukul Choudhary has shared a very special moment with Virat Kohli that he is unlikely to forget anytime soon. Ahead of LSG’s final IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings on May 23, Mukul Choudhary opened up about the advice he received from Virat Kohli after his team’s match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Bengaluru last month.

Even though Lucknow Super Giants lost that game by five wickets to Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 17, Mukul got valuable lessons from the modern-era legend. The young batter revealed how Kohli guided him about handling pressure in T20 cricket.

On Saturday, May 21, Star Sports shared a video where Mukul Choudhary shared how Virat Kohli explained to him that hitting sixes alone is not enough in modern cricket because many players can do that now.

The former Indian captain suggested the LSG youngster understand the importance of staying till the end and finishing games properly when the team is under pressure.

The young batter also revealed that Kohli spoke about his brilliant innings against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) earlier this season and told him to continue batting with the same calm mindset.

Kohli asked Mukul to learn how to hold one end when the wickets are falling from the other side if he wants to become a top player in the future.

Mukul Choudhary said in the video shared by Star Sports on X (formerly Twitter): “He told me that it is important to finish the game. Nowadays, everyone hits sixes in this generation. He told me that I should finish the game the way I finished the game the other day against KKR.

He said anyone can hit sixes. In a match of 170-180 runs, if the wicket falls from one side, and if you learn how to anchor and keep the one side, you will become a great player. He told me this.”

Mukul Choudhary became overnight hero after stunning KKR knock

Notably, Mukul Choudhary became a big name overnight after his stunning knock against KKR at Eden Gardens on April 9. Coming into bat in a pressure situation, the youngster smashed an unbeaten 54 runs from just 27 balls and helped LSG win the last-ball thriller against KKR.

The 21-year-old hit seven massive sixes in that innings and shocked everyone with his fearless batting. His performance impressed not only fans but also LSG head coach Justin Langer.

The former Australian legend had praised Mukul’s natural power-hitting ability and even said that the youngster has the potential to become one of India’s most dangerous finishers in the future. Interestingly, Mukul has always looked up to MS Dhoni and tries to copy his calm finishing style and helicopter shots.

However, after this knock, Choudhary didn’t make much impact, amassing only 169 runs in 9 innings at an average of 33.80 and strike rate of 144.44 for LSG in the tournament.
