One of the greatest cricketers to ever play the game is the former Indian captain MS Dhoni. The legends have lauded him for his brilliance and his unique ability to read game situations, but the young people look up to him as well because he is adept at both the game and its problems. To gain an advantage over him, everyone who is playing with or against him wants to talk shop.

In the IPL, several players—both domestic and foreign—can be observed paying close attention to Dhoni. A similar scene was also visible following the heated India vs Pakistan encounter at the T20 World Cup 2021.

Young Pakistani cricketers were observed conversing with and listening to Dhoni, Team India’s coach for the competition. Haris Rauf, one of the guys who has improved significantly as a white-ball bowler over the past year or so, recalled the encounter with the illustrious cricketer.

Rauf claimed that he requested a Chennai Super Kings jersey from Dhoni rather than an Indian one, and he remembered the excitement when he eventually got it in January of this year while playing in the Big Bash League in Australia.

“After the T20 World Cup match against India, MS Dhoni and I spoke. I requested one of his shirts from him. However, I informed him that I preferred the CSK shirt to the Team India one. He assured me that he would mail it to me. As soon as I arrived in Australia, I received it,” on The Grade Cricketers Podcast, Rauf stated.

Before even making his Pakistani debut, Rauf is famous for being one of the net bowlers on India’s tour of Australia in 2018–19.
