It left the former cricketer furious, and he went to Kapil Dev's house with a gun to take revenge, but he couldn’t insult his mother. Later, he vowed never to play cricket again, instead focusing on his son Yuvraj's career, and the rest is history.
I took my pistol out and went to Kapil's house in Sector 9: Yograj Singh
Yograj Singh told YouTuber Samdish Bhatia on the 'Unfiltered by Samdish' podcast: “When Kapil Dev became captain of India, North Zone, and Haryana, he dropped me for no reason. My wife (Yuvi's mother) wanted me to ask Kapil questions. I told her that I would teach this bloody man a lesson. I took my pistol out and went to Kapil's house in Sector 9.
He came out with his mother. I abused him a dozen times. I told him because of you I have lost a friend, and what you have done, you will pay for it. I told him, 'I want to put a bullet through your head, but I am not doing it because you have a very pious mother, who is standing here.' I told Shabnam, 'Let's go.' That was the moment I decided I would not play cricket; Yuvi will play.”
Yograj Singh never forgave Bishan Singh Bedi
Meanwhile, Yograj also accused Kapil Dev and others, including the late Bishan Singh Bedi, of conspiring against him during his cricket career. He claimed that their politics ended his career. Yograj revealed that then-selector Ravindra Chadha told him that Bedi thought he was too close to Sunil Gavaskar simply because he played in Mumbai, and that’s why he didn’t pick him. Yograj said that he could never forgive the late Bishan Singh Bedi for ruining his career.
Furthermore, Yuvraj Singh’s father revealed that he hasn’t spoken to Kapil Dev in all these years. He recalled Kapil Dev was the only one who was crying after India won the 2011 World Cup, and his son played a key role in that historic triumph. Yograj revealed that he sent Kapil a newspaper clip, and said his son had performed better than him in the 1983 World Cup.

The former Indian cricketer also revealed that Kapil had apologized to him, sending a WhatsApp message saying they would be brothers in the next life, born from the same mother. Kapil wanted to meet him, but Yograj could not still forgive the legendary all-rounder for the pain he gave to him.
He signed off by saying, “In 2011, when India won the World Cup, the only man crying was Kapil Dev. I sent him a paper cutting saying, ‘My son did better than you in the World Cup.”
