Pakistan allrounder Aamer Jamal has accused the selectors of betraying him after not being included in the Pakistan squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the squad on Friday (January 31).

The 28-year-old Aamer Jamal made his debut for Pakistan in the 50-over format in November last year during the series in Zimbabwe. He played in all three ODIs of the series and picked up 3 wickets. However, he was dropped from the Pakistan squad for the series against South Africa in December.

Even after being dropped, he was in contention for a place in the Pakistan squad for the forthcoming Champions Trophy. According to reports in Pakistani media, the Pakistan selectors had assured Aamer Jamal of picking him in the squad. However, they reportedly decided against picking him in the squad at the last moment and picked Faheem Ashraf instead.

Disappointed by the snub, Aamer Jamal did not stop himself from taking a dig at the selectors. Soon after the Pakistan squad was announced, the allrounder took to Instagram to post a story in which he accused the selectors of betraying him with a cryptic post. While not mentioning anyone's name, Aamer Jamal wrote: "If betraying had a face."

Here is the Instagram story from Aamer Jamal:

Jamal has represented Pakistan in all three formats. So far, he has played 8 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 6 T20Is for his national team. Talking about Faheem Ashraf, the 31-year-old bowling allrounder is definitely more experienced than Jamal in international cricket.

He has played 17 Tests, 34 ODIs, and 48 T20Is for Pakistan so far. However, the all-rounder has not represented Pakistan in any format since 2023. His last appearance for Pakistan came in December 2023 during the Perth Test against Australia. Ashraf last played an ODI against India in September 2023.

Pakistan squad for Champions Trophy:

In another big decision, Pakistan have recalled Fakhar Zaman for the Champions Trophy. With Saim Ayub injured and Abdullah Shafique dropped due to bad form, Zaman is in contention to open the innings for Pakistan in the marquee event.

Zaman is one of the only three members from Pakistan's 2017 Champions Trophy-winning campaign to be picked in the squad for the upcoming edition. Babar Azam and Ashraf are the other two members who were a part of the Pakistan team that won the Champions Trophy in 2017.
