ICC Champions Trophy 2025: India vs Pakistan match after the tournament being taken up

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) are planning something big that can bring a change to the cricket world. Former cricketer Rashid Latif confirmed this development just after ICC's final decision on the Champions Trophy 2025.

India and Pakistan, who have not played with each other apart from Asia Cups and ICC tournaments for a decade, can be up against each other in a tri-series now. The idea was proposed in the ICC board meeting and is under serious consideration now.

ICC planning to organize tri-series involving India and Pakistan: Rashid Latif

Latif claimed that the event involving these two countries will be played at a neutral venue given the recent resolution passed by the ICC where they won't travel to the respective countries if the matches are being hosted by one of these two nations.

Since there will be no more matches between India and Pakistan in either of the countries, both nations will face financial losses. That's why, a new idea was proposed in the meeting to play a multi-nation tournament involving these two nations.

The majority of the revenue generated from the tournament will be shared between India and Pakistan. It is likely the tournament will be played as a tri-series involving these two nations and one highly-ranked team.

Pakistan Vs India - Revival

ICC and Asian Cricket Council are planning to organize an event that will benefit both of them. The event will involve both of them playing against each other at neutral venues.

The ICC hasn't confirmed anything on this idea yet but Latif has made a strong claim. The ICC desperately wants the cricket between these two countries to increase as it contributes to a huge share of revenue in the board.

India's last visit to Pakistan

Both the countries haven't played with each other in a bilateral series since 2013 when Pakistan travelled for two T20Is and three ODIs. Since then, both the teams have only faced each other in ICC tournaments and Asia Cups.

India last traveled to Pakistan way back in 2008 for the Asia Cup. But the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 soured the political relations between these two nations which prompted India to take strong steps.

ICC finds a solution for Champions Trophy 2025

Recently, the ICC finally found a solution to the days-long battle to host the Champions Trophy 2025. The board managed to convince the PCB to organize the Champions Trophy in a hybrid model.

However, the Men in Green will also play its matches in the ICC events hosted by India at a neutral venue in return. The ICC managed to convince both the PCB and the BCCI on this matter, thus confirming that the Champions Trophy will be held in a hybrid model.

The resolution has been passed for the hybrid model for tournaments taking place from 2024-2027. The final schedule for the Champions Trophy is likely to be announced soon.
