The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly taking steps to resolve the ongoing dispute surrounding the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is expected to meet with International Cricket Council (ICC) officials and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials.

The 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to be hosted in Pakistan, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India has refused to send the national cricket team due to security concerns, as advised by the Indian government. Pakistan, on the other hand, has firmly rejected the suggestion of a "hybrid" model.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has insisted that the tournament should take place in Pakistan as originally planned. They have written to the International Cricket Council to seek a resolution regarding the situation. The scheduled release event was postponed due to the deadlock over the Champions Trophy.

Jay Shah to Meet ICC Officials to Discuss Champions Trophy

According to ARY News, Jay Shah is set to meet ICC officials in Dubai to discuss the ongoing deadlock over the upcoming tournament. Following the meeting, Shah will have a conversation with PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. The BCCI wants to resolve the dispute regarding the ICC tournament's venue and format.

"BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is reaching Dubai today, where he is expected to meet ICC officials," sources privy to the development said.

"Later, a telephonic contact with the PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is also expected," the sources said.

There Is Nothing About The Hybrid Model - Rashid Latif

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has rejected the idea of the upcoming Champions Trophy being played in a hybrid model, where India would play their matches outside Pakistan. Latif emphasized that the Pakistan Cricket Board was granted hosting rights by the International Cricket Council.

The former cricketer stated that any changes to the venue or format must comply with ICC's legal agreements. He also criticized the idea of mixing the Champions Trophy with bilateral series or events like ACC tournaments, calling it inappropriate.

"PCB is just hosting the event, ICC gave them the hosting rights. The BCCI agreed at that time. There is nothing concrete about the hybrid model," in an interview with The Hindustan Times, Latif said.

"Everything should happen as per the ICC rules, it is a legal document. One should follow it, there is nothing about the hybrid model in the agreement. Don't mix the bilateral series and ACC tournaments with this Champions Trophy. The hosting rights for this tournament were signed under the eight-year cycle agreement," he added.

Pakistan Traveled to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup

The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan took place in 2012-13 when Pakistan toured India for a white-ball series. Since then, the two teams have only faced each other in ICC events and the Asia Cup.

Last year, Pakistan traveled to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, they had to host the Asia Cup 2023 in a hybrid model, with Sri Lanka hosting India's all matches in the tournament, including the summit clash.
