India skipper, Rohit Sharma will be leading the Men in Blues in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup in India, which will start from October 5th, 2023. However, ahead of the prestigious tournament Rohit Sharma said that he won’t be watching any clips of the 2011 World Cup.

The 36-year-old recalled the 2003 World Cup and explained how India were amazing till the final. He also praised Sachin Tendulkar and said how he was amazing with the bat and scored many runs in the 2003 WC.

The skipper also talked about the 2007 World Cup and said how the Men in Blues underperformed in the tournament.

“In 2003, India played really well up until the finals. You know, Sachin Tendulkar was amazing with the bat, scored so many runs. And then comes the 2007 World Cup where we didn’t have a great time, and didn’t even qualify after the league stage, so that was quite unfortunate,” Rohit Sharma said in Barbados.

Rohit Sharma further said that the 2011 World Cup was memorable for all the Indians and that at one point he stopped watching the games since he was not a part of the squad and was disappointed.

“2011 was a memorable one for all of us, I remember watching it from home, every single match, every single ball which was being bowled and that was being played. There were two kinds of emotions, one was obviously I was not a part of it, so I was a little disappointed. I decided I was not going to watch the World Cup, but again, the second memory I remember was that India was playing so well, the quarter-finals onwards,” Rohit Sharma on the 2011 World Cup.

Why Rohit Sharma will be under pressure ahead during ICC Cricket World Cup 2023?

In the upcoming ODI World Cup, Rohit Sharma will be under pressure and cannot make any mistake which may cost them the trophy since India are yet to win an ICC trophy for more than 10 years.

After losing the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 against Australia, Rohit Sharma’s side extended a trophyless drought. However, India will play the upcoming ODI World Cup in front of their home crowd which gives them an upper hand on their opponents.
