ICC punishes Zimbabwe's Sean Williams for breaching the Code of Conduct

Zimbabwe National Cricket Team player Sean Williams has come under the scanner following his antics in the second ODI against the Pakistan National Cricket Team. The batter was punished by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the code of conduct.

Zimbabwe National Cricket Team batter Sean Williams was found guilty of having violated Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. He breached Article 2.8, which relates to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match".

The incident took place during the 26th over of Zimbabwe’s innings against the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the second ODI. The batter expressed his disappointment at the umpire after he was adjudged lbw to Saim Ayub. He gestured his bat to the official, who didn't like that.

Apart from breaching the ICC Code of Conduct, Sean Williams was also handed one demerit point to disciplinary record. This was his first offence within 24 months and hence he wasn't punished hard by the International Cricket Council.

According to the ICC Code of Conduct, Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

On-field umpires Michael Gough and Forster Mutizwa, along with third umpire Iknow Chabi and fourth umpire Langton Rusere, levelled the charge. Sean Williams admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. Hence, there was no need for a formal hearing.

Pakistan completed a dominating 10-wicket win in the second ODI against Zimbabwe

Coming to the second ODI between the teams, Pakistan National Cricket Team levelled the series after their shambolic loss in the first ODI. The two teams clashed in the second game on Tuesday (26th November) at the Queens Park Club in Bulawayo.

Pakistan completed a dominating 10-wicket win after they bundled out Zimbabwe National Cricket Team for just 145 runs. Abrar Ahmed picked four wickets while Salman Ali Agha bagged three as the visitors ended the innings of the opposition inside 33 overs. Dion Myers (33) and Sean Williams (31) were the top run-getters for their team.

In the chase, the Pakistan National Cricket Team came up with a brutal effort. Opening batter Saim Ayub went berserk and slammed the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team bowlers all over the park. He slammed his ton and dominated the small chase.

Saim Ayub ended with the innings of unbeaten 113 runs off 62 balls with 17 fours and 3 sixes. Abdullah Shafique (32*) supported him well as the Pakistan National Cricket Team completed the chase in just 18.2 overs to level the three-match series by 1-1.
