The ICC has named three nominees for the month of November as a trio of standout performers. Players from South Africa, Bangladesh, and November have been nominated for the ICC Men's Player of the Month.
The ICC rewards the players every month with the best performance on show, and for that, multiple nominees are considered every month from among the member nations of the ICC. Players are considered based on their performance in a series or multiple series for that month.
For November, the ICC has picked South African off-spinner Simon Harmer, Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam, and Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz. All three of these cricketers have led their team to victory with promising performances in the last month.
Simon Harmer made it to the ICC Men's Player of the Month nominees after a stellar series in India
Following his commendable show for South Africa with the ball, the 36-year-old off-spinner went on to claim a spot among the nominees for the Men's Player of the Month for November.
He was the heart of the Protea bowling attack as South Africa whitewashed India in a two-match Test series after a long wait of 25 years. Harmer single-handedly claimed a total of 17 wickets across the four innings of play at an average of 8.94.
He took eight wickets in the first match at the rank turner in Kolkata's Eden Gardens and then advanced to Guwahati to back his spectacular run with another 9-wicket haul in the game. He picked a 6-wicket haul as the Indian batting order crashed in chasing the mammoth target and lost the game by 408 runs. He was also the player of the series after his spectacular performance.
Taijul Islam claimed the highest wickets in the Ireland series
After the Proteas spinner, another spinner features in the list, but this time from Bangladesh. Left-arm orthodox spinner from Bangladesh, Taijul Islam, continued to live up to his reputation as a reliable match-winner under home conditions.
Bangladesh too whitewashed Ireland on home soil with a 2-0 scoreline, after Taijul Islam picked 13 wickets at an average of 26.30, finishing as their leading wicket-taker in the series.
He has recently evolved as the greatest character for Bangladesh on the field, as he is widely known for his ability to break partnerships at decisive junctures of the game. He challenged the Ireland batters to find answers to his quality bowling.
Mohammad Nawaz enlisted after an all-format dominance
Pakistan's all-rounder spinner is the third nominee on the ICC's list. Unlike the two other nominees, Nawaz did not feature for his dominance with the red-ball; he has rather excelled in white-ball formats for Pakistan, especially in the tri-series triumph over Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
With the bat, the left-handed lower-order finisher gathered 104 ODI runs at an average of 52 and a strike rate of 114.25 while he picked four wickets. Then in the T20Is, he amassed 52 runs and claimed 11 wickets, averaging 12.72.
He secured the Player of the series in the Tri-series following his match-winning 3/17 in the final against Sri Lanka.
