ICC T20 World Cup 2024: England, Australia Placed In Same Group In T20 WC - Reports

England and Australia are set to be placed in the same group in the T20 World Cup 2024 as per the reports in Telegraph. The mega event is all set to take place in the United States of America (USA) and the Caribbean next year from 4th June to 30th June.

The reports added that Barbados will be hosting the game between England and Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024. The two teams also faced each other at the Kensington Oval during the final of the T20 World Cup in 2010, which England won.

England and Australia have been the top teams in the T20Is for the last two years. While Australia won the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE, England emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup 2022 down under. Therefore encounter between the two teams will be enthralling to watch.

Apart from Barbados, the reports added that England will be playing in Antigua and St Lucia. It is also learned that the Jos Buttler-led side will be playing all their games including super eight fixtures in the West Indies. This is because ICC is ensuring that fans make plans in advance and see their teams play.

The reports also revealed that entire fixtures for the T20 World Cup 2024 will be announced later this week. The tournament is just a few months away and it’s fair to say that it will be an exciting contest to watch since a lot of teams will be taking part in the tournament this time around.

The competition between bat and ball is expected to be very high. England are the defending champions and it will be a very tough task for them to defend the title. There will be some new teams in the league this time around. Associate nations too will be there and one cannot take them lightly.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 To Have 20 Teams

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will for the first time see 20 teams playing. Teams will be divided into four groups with five teams each. The top two sides from each group will qualify for the Super Eight stage, which will see two groups of four teams each.

The two sides from the two groups in Super Eight will then qualify for the semi-final. Out of the 20 teams, 10 sides will be playing their games in the United States of America, which will be hosting the World Cup for the very first time in the history of the game.

Grand Prairie in Dallas, Broward County in Florida, and Nassau County in New York – where Eisenhower Park is sited – are the three venues in the United States of America that will be hosting the tournament whereas six countries in the Caribbean in Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Trinidad & Tobago will be hosting the event.
