The International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to have its annual conference in Singapore. As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the meeting is tentatively scheduled for the third week of July, and some of the key decisions, including the changes to the Playing Conditions, are expected during the meeting.

As per the reports, the decision to host the annual conference in Singapore was finalised during recent meetings held in Zimbabwe. The first one took place in Harare and later in Victoria Falls. And the decision was made considering that Singapore is the constituency of ICC Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja.

One of the major proposals that was put forward by the Cricket Committee was to use a single ball from the 25th over onwards in One-Day Internationals, intending to bring reverse swing back into play. Apart from this, they also suggested some changes in the Test cricket.

ICC to form a working group to look into suggestions put forward by the Cricket Committee

The Sourav Ganguly-led Committee that in-game clocks should introduced in Test cricket so that 90 overs in a day can be completed. They suggested that there should be a time limit of 60 seconds between overs in Tests, too, as it is in the white-ball cricket.

The Cricket Committee also put forward the suggestion to hold the Under 19 men's World Cup in T20 format, like the women's Under 19 World Cup. Currently, the men's Under 19 World Cup is in the 50-over format. The ICC, during their conference, will be addressing all this, and the decision will come out soon.

The governing body is keen to form a working group so that they dive deep into these suggestions before they take any call. The reports claimed that the group has not been formed as yet but it is likely to be done soon.

ICC also recently held preliminary discussions on the World Cricket Association (WCA)

The ICC also recently held preliminary discussions on the World Cricket Association (WCA). The meetings were related to the suggestions made by the associations, including a restructuring of the ICC governance and a review of the existing financial distribution model. So far, there is no clarity if the board has taken the matter or not.

However, it is learned that some deliberations took place at the Chief Executives' Committee (CEC) level. The reports added that consensus within the CEC appears to be that the WCA lacks the locus standi to dictate terms to the global governing body.

Only a few Full Member boards have granted affiliation to the organisation, which previously identified itself as FICA. The individual boards would engage with their players who are associated with the WCA. However, the likelihood of the report gaining formal acceptance from the global governing body remains slim.
