ICC U19 World Cup: ICC Approves Aaradhya Yadav As Replacement For Vasu Vats For India U19 Team

Aaradhya Yadav has been named as the replacement for Vasu Vats in the India U19 team squad in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup.

The International Cricket Council on Saturday approved the replacement as Aaradhya comes in for Vats, who sustained a hamstring injury.

“Vats has sustained a hamstring injury and will be unable to take any further part in the event,” the ICC said in a statement.

“The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad,” stated an official release.

The Event Technical Committee consists of the Chair Chris Tetley (ICC Head of Events), Ben Leaver (ICC Senior Event Manager), Fawwaz Baksh (Tournament Director) Roland Holder (CWI Representative) Alan Wilkins and Russel Arnold (both independent representatives).

India Colts to play Bangladesh in Super League Quarter-Final

India U19 team have already qualified for the Super League Quarter-Final round after they topped the charts in Group B, winning their all three games.

The Indian Colts started their campaign with a win against South Africa U19 by 45 runs and followed it with a thumping win against Ireland U19 by a huge margin of 174 runs.

Ahead of the Ireland game, the India U19 camp was hit by COVID-19 cases as captain Yash Dhull and vice-captain SK Rasheed along with few more players were kept under isolation. Haryana’s Nishant Sindhu led the team in the absence of regular leaders.

India U19 defeated Uganda U19 by 326 runs after Angkrish Raghuvanshi (144) and Raj Bawa (162) slammed hundreds to post an enormous score of 405 in the first innings.

Aaradhya made 42 off 40 balls against hosts West Indies U19 in the warm-up match on January 9. Vats played just one match against Uganda and picked the wicket of Ronald Lutaaya.

India U19 team will play against Bangladesh U19 side in the Super League Quarter-final 2 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Saturday.
