The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken yet another huge step in their quest for elevating and empowering women in cricket. In a watershed moment, the governing body of the game has taken the historic decision of appointing an all-female ICC Panel of Match officials for this year's Women's World Cup.
This is the first time that all-female match officials will be officiating in the Women's World Cup. The ICC has been backing the idea for quite some time now. In recent times, three major events - the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the two most recent ICC Women's T20 World Cups - featured all-female match official panels.
