ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 out of Bangladesh as 4 teams including India raise security concerns

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is unlikely to host the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024, which is planned to be played in October this year. The governments of India, Australia, England, and New Zealand have issued travel advisories, which cast serious doubts on hosting the ICC tournament.
The T20 World Cup 2024 was scheduled to be played in Bangladesh from October 3 to 20. However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is considering a change of venue due to political unrest in Bangladesh. The protests turned into violence and led to hundreds of deaths and curfews in the country.
India, Australia, England, and New Zealand issued travel advisories after a massive student-led movement that caused former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign. Hosting a major event with 10 international teams will be difficult for Bangladesh unless the situation improves dramatically in the country.
We Are Regularly Communicating With The ICC - The BCB Official
Bangladesh's chance of hosting the Women's T20 World Cup in October depends on the withdrawal of travel advisories from the four countries. A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said that both participating teams and the ICC are concerned about the ongoing political instability in the country.
"Being the host nation, we are regularly communicating with the ICC [International Cricket Council] regarding this issue, and even in our last communication yesterday [Friday], they expressed concern over the travel advisories from four participating nations," the official was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.

Bangladesh will likely lose the opportunity to host the Women's T20 World Cup if these countries do not lift their travel advisories. The official emphasized that the ICC is concerned about the financial risks and may soon decide to move the tournament if security concerns persist.
"See, if these countries don't withdraw their travel advisories, there is no chance for us to host this event. While Australia initially advised reconsidering travel plans to Bangladesh, it now suggests 'do not travel to Bangladesh.' So, you can understand the situation," he said.
"Time is running out, and the ICC will not wait long because there is a huge risk of financial setbacks if we ultimately fail to host the tournament due to security reasons," the official added.
The ICC has not yet named an alternative host for the Women's T20 World Cup. However, Zimbabwe and the UAE have emerged as front-runners to host the event if Bangladesh loses its hosting rights. Zimbabwe officially showed interest in hosting the upcoming tournament, according to ESPN Cricinfo.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided not to host the Women's T20 World Cup. The weather conditions in Sri Lanka during October are a concern. The final decision regarding the venue for the tournament will be made during an online meeting of the directors on Tuesday, August 20.
