ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 venues announced, Lord’s to host final

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday (1st May) announced the venues for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament will be played in England, and Lord’s Cricket Ground will be hosting the final of the marquee tournament.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will begin from 12th June, will see as many as 12 teams clash with each other in the 33 games for the silverware. Apart from Lord’s, the ICC has finalized six other venues for the event.

Lord's Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, The Oval, Hampshire Bowl, and Bristol County will host the tournament

The venues are Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, The Oval, Hampshire Bowl, and the Bristol County Ground. The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will see the usual format as teams will be divided into two groups, followed by a knockout stage.

The entire schedule will be announced soon. A total of 12 teams will be part of the event. Eight teams in Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and the West Indies have already qualified. While remaining four will be decided after the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2025.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah spoke after the announcement of venues for the T20 World Cup 2026. He highlighted how the United Kingdom turns out at full capacity for women's games, saying that there cannot be a more fitting stage for the final than Lord’s. He said:

"The United Kingdom's rich diversity has always shown passionate support for all teams. The sell-out Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women’s game, and I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final.”

"As we turn our focus to preparing for the tournament, we are excited by the promise of thrilling T20 action that will not only captivate fans here but also serve as a showcase for cricket’s return on the Olympic stage in Los Angeles 2028."

ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould also shared his take on hosting the ICC Women’s T20 World 2026, saying that they are thrilled to announce the venues and are excited for the tournament. Speaking about the same, he said:

“We are hugely excited for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 and thrilled to be able to confirm the seven iconic venues that will host the tournament.

“It is, of course, extra special to announce that the final will be taking place at Lord’s. It is one of the finest venues in world cricket and every cricketer dreams of being part of occasions like a World Cup final at Lord’s."
