ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 dates, venues announced; Final at Chinnaswamy but Pakistan threat looms

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the schedule for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, which will be held from September 30 to November 2 across India and Sri Lanka. The Women’s Cricket World Cup is returning to India after 12 years.

India last hosted the ICC women’s tournament in 2016, when the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was held alongside the men’s edition.

The ICC has allotted only one venue to Sri Lanka, while India’s four cities will host the mega event. World’s top 8 teams will battle it out for the Women’s World Cup trophy across five venues, and they are Bengaluru, Guwahati, Indore, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo later this year.

ICC Women's World Cup 2025 schedule out

The 13th edition of the Women's ODI World Cup will kick off on September 30 with India playing the opening match in Bengaluru. The first semi-final will be played on October 29 in either Guwahati or Colombo, while the second semi-final is set for October 30 in Bengaluru.

The title clash of the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will take place on November 2 in either Bengaluru or Colombo, depending on the outcomes of the semi-final. Sri Lanka’s Colombo will host the first semifinal and the final only if Pakistan reaches those stages.

Meanwhile, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are the eight participating teams in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The defending champions and seven-times World Cup winners, Australia, will enter the tournament as favorites.

Eight teams will compete in a round-robin format, with 28 league matches scheduled at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, ACA Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore, ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, and R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

ICC announces venue for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026

The ICC also announced the venue for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by England next year. Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham will host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener, with hosts England beginning their campaign on 12 June.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah shared his excitement about the upcoming global women’s tournaments to be hosted by India and England. Shah has further highlighted that women’s cricket is the ICC’s top priority, and he expects the upcoming World Cups to take the game to new heights.

Jay Shah said in an official statement on ICC: “We are excited to make some important announcements regarding two global women’s tournaments to be hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the England and Wales Cricket Board in the coming months.”

The ICC chairman further added, “Fans have shown great support for the women’s game in recent years, and I am sure they will start planning for these showpiece events now that they have key dates and venues. Women’s cricket stands at the forefront of our vision, and we are confident that these two upcoming tournaments will not only sustain the incredible momentum we've built in recent years but lift it to greater heights.”
