Netherlands batter Vikramjit Singh opened up about his No.7 jersey. He said that he gets a lot of comments on that as many people have told him that they love the No.7 kit because of MS Dhoni.

Vikramjit Singh played a vital role in Netherlands’ qualifying for the ICC World Cup 2023 as he played crucial knocks for his team in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers. The Southpaw smashed a brilliant ton against Oman and then followed it with another great knock.

Vikramjit Singh scored 40 runs against Scotland, in what was the virtual qualifier game, and helped his side book a berth for the main tournament in India later this year. While chasing the target of 278 runs, the Southpaw along with Max O’Dowd gave their team a great start.

But after that, it was all about Bas de Leede, who picked five wickets with the ball earlier. The all-rounder smashed a brilliant 123-run knock and helped his side win the game by 4 wickets and qualify for the main tournament in October-November this year.

In a video posted by ICC, Vikramjit Singh revealed that his favorite number was 10 and he wanted that but he had to settle with 7. He also spoke about the love he gets from fans for his jersey as MS Dhoni wears the same jersey number. He explained:

“I do get a lot of comments on that. That I have got Dhoni’s number. Lot of people on social media, they love the No.7 on the back. Obviously, lot of MS Dhoni fans around there. 10 was my favourite number and unfortunately Timm Van Der Gugten has got that number so my next favourite number was seven and so that’s the story behind it.”

MS Dhoni talks about playing next year in the IPL as well

MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, has been a regular in IPL as well. But one question that was the hot soup of the IPL was will this be MS Dhoni’s last season in the league? There were a lot of speculations about if he will play the next season or if will it be his last season in the league, considering his age and fitness.

MS Dhoni, however, put the talks to rest. Although he isn’t sure if he will return to play in the next season or not, he said that if he returns back it’ll be a gift from him to the fans. But he needs to work hard. He said:

“Looking for an answer? This is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over. The easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the harder thing would be working hard for 9 months and try to play another IPL. It would be a gift from me, won’t be easy on the body.” He concluded.

MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to the fifth IPL title in 2023 after they thumped Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the final. He scored 104 runs in 12 games in IPL 2023 at a strike rate of 182. They have now joint-most titles with Mumbai Indians in the league.
