Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer believes that ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah will play a vital role in the ODI World Cup, which is set to be played at home later this year. However, Wasim Jaffer expressed concerns over Jasprit Bumrah bowling at his best in his comeback.

Jasprit Bumrah was sidelined from action since September last year after suffering a stress fracture in his back. The right-arm pacer underwent surgery for his back earlier this year. He is currently bowling with full intensity in the nets at NCA and is expected to make his comeback.

We Are Missing Him In Death Bowling – Wasim Jaffer

During a discussion on JioCinema, Wasim Jaffer stated that if Jasprit Bumrah bowls at the same speed as before, it will be a great sign for the team.

“He is a huge part of the bowling attack. I feel he will have an extremely important role in the World Cup. We are missing him in death bowling. We have missed him this entire year,” Jaffer told Jio Cinema.

“However, he needs to come back to fitness, and there will be a question mark whether he will be able to bowl the same way, at the same pace. If does that, there can’t be anything better than that,” he added.

Jasprit Bumrah Will Remain The Leader Of The Pack – Ishant Sharma

Veteran pacer Ishant Sharma highlighted that Jasprit Bumrah will be the leader of the bowling attack in the marquee event, despite not playing for a long time.

“He is extremely important, not for one, but all formats. However, keeping the World Cup in mind, he is a very important player. He has won India so many matches in tough conditions,” Ishant said.

“He is a senior player as well. He captained the side in a Test match as well. So according to me, Jasprit Bumrah will remain the leader of the pack in the World Cup. So it is extremely important for him to get fit,” he added.

Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly likely to be selected for India’s upcoming T20I series against Ireland. However, the selectors are likely to assess his fitness in practice games. The team management is keen on trying him out in T20Is before the Asia Cup, which will be played in the 50-over format.
