South African pacer Kagiso Rabada spoke on South Africa’s chances of winning the upcoming ODI World Cup in India and said that the whole Proteas squad members are aiming to get a hold of the trophy.

While speaking to iol.com.za, Kagiso Rabada said that the squad members are not paying attention to the drama that is taking place outside and that they will look ahead to win the trophy.

“All this drama outside about South African cricket and World Cups… we’re not paying attention to it really. Having been to World Cups and not winning silverware, it’s disappointing… I won’t lie. I’m willing to make it happen, we’re all willing to make it happen,” Kagiso Rabada said.

The 28-year-old Proteas pacer said that winning the World Cup is something else that he wants to experience.

The Proteas have still not announced their ODI World Cup squad and Rabada said that once it is announced, everyone’s main goal will be to win it.

“Winning a World Cup is something that I would love to do. It’s something every player that’s in the set-up would love to do. The only thing going there, once the squad is announced, is to win it,” he added.

We see really good things coming…: Kagiso Rabada

While talking about South Africa’s camp in Pretoria, the South African pacer said that good results have come out from the camp, and before the Australia series they will have another such camp.

“We had a camp in Durban and we just came off a camp in Pretoria. We see really good things coming out of these camps, and we have another one coming up just before the series against Australia,” he further added.

“The (World Cup) squad hasn’t been announced yet but the guys are really eager. We can’t wait to go there. Whoever is chosen, I’m sure everyone can’t wait to go and play some competitive cricket,” Kagiso Rabada concluded.

South Africa will start their ODI World Cup 2023 journey against Sri Lanka on October 7th at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
