ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan Team Doesn't Enjoy With Babar Azam: Shadab Khan's Bombshell Revelation Creates Massive Wall

Pakistan‘s campaign in Asia Cup 2023 ended in a disastrous fashion. The Babar Azam-led side entered the competition as the number-one ODI side in the world after an impressive 3-0 win over Afghanistan.

They started their campaign in the Asia Cup as per expectations. The Babar Azam-led side registered a mammoth 238-run win over Nepal before delivering a fine bowling performance in the washed-out game against Pakistan. In the Super 4 game against Bangladesh, they registered another convincing win.

But everything went downhill for them after the win against Bangladesh. Pakistan suffered a humiliating 228-run loss against arch-rivals India. In the do-or-die match against Sri Lanka, they failed to defend 252 runs in 42 overs and lost the game by 2 wickets to crash out of the Asia Cup 2023.

Soon after they exited the Asia Cup, reports emerged that not all was well within the Pakistan dressing room. Captain Babar Azam and pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi were reportedly involved in a verbal altercation while the former was speaking to the team after the defeat against Sri Lanka. As per reports, Mohammad Rizwan had to step in to bring the situation under control.

Shadab Khan on Babar Azam’s captaincy:

Pakistan leg-spinner Shadab Khan has made a startling comment regarding Babar Azam’s captaincy. The spinner has said that he and his teammates do not really enjoy Babar Azam’s captaincy on the field but have no problem with him off the field. The Pakistan vice-captain said that Babar Azam’s personality completely changes once he steps out on the field as captain.

“We don’t really enjoy with Babar on the field because he is a different person altogether over there, but we do enjoy with him off the field,” Shadab was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Shadab Khan’s comments have come just days after Babar Azam highlighted his struggle to pick wickets. The leg-spinner did struggle with the ball in the Asia Cup especially in the Super 4 stage and his poor display was one of the reasons behind Pakistan’s failure.

“Shadab is bowling very well but he is not taking any wicket. So that’s why you feel he is not bowling well. He is bowling well by unfortunately he is not taking any wickets. He is one of your best bowlers, Nawaz and Shadab,” Babar Azam had said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming World Cup. The marquee event is scheduled to begin on October 5 in India.
