Sri Lanka Cricket Team have made it into the ICC World Cup 2023 after their magnificent performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup Qualifiers. They became the first team from the Qualifiers to enter the main tournament. 

Sri Lanka qualified for the World Cup after they bagged a massive 9-wicket win against Zimbabwe on Sunday (2nd July). The Dasun Shanaka-led side played like a champion throughout the tournament and were the most deserving side to book their berth for India.

Sri Lanka dominated the group stage as they won 4 out of their 4 games and made it into the super six. A similar story continued in the super six stages as well as they won all four games and made sure that they are on the flight to India in October, having an unbeaten record in the Qualifiers.

ICC World Cup 2023: Sri Lanka Thump Zimbabwe by 9 Wickets 

Sri Lanka had a great outing against Zimbabwe. The toss went in their favor and they opted to field first, which paid off. They bowled some impeccable lines and lengths and put the opposition under pressure. They kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals and were always on the top.

Mahesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged 4 wickets whereas Dilshan Madhushanka picked three wickets. Skipper Dasun Shanaka and Matheesha Pathirana combined to pick three wickets as Sri Lanka folded the opposition for just 165 runs. 

Chasing the target, Pathum Nissanka smashed a blistering unbeaten century whereas Dimuth Karunaratne (30) and Kusal Mendis (25*) supported him well as Sri Lanka chased the target by 9 wickets in 33.1 overs.
