Legendary West Indies pacer Sir Curtly Ambrose expressed his hope that ace Indian batter Virat Kohli would play a crucial role for India in the ODI World Cup 2023. Curtly Ambrose highlighted Virat Kohli’s hunger for runs, which makes him one of the great players.

Virat Kohli was rested from the white-ball series during India’s tour of the West Indies. The 34-year-old will be next seen in action during the Asia Cup 2023, which is set to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. His presence boosts the Men in Blue’s line-up in the tournament.

Virat Kohli Is A Great Player – Curtly Ambrose

In a recent interview with RevSportz, Curtly Ambrose said that Virat Kohli would excel in the ODI World Cup 2023, emphasizing that lean periods are part of every great player’s journey.

“I have seen Virat for several years now, and I don’t need to tell you that he is a great player. And like every great player in history, he went through a lean period,” Ambrose told RevSportz.

“But that does not mean he is finished or that he is over the hill, or he is not the same player of old. He looked hungry to me, looked disciplined and fit. These are all important signs to observe. I think Virat can make a telling difference for India in the World Cup at home. He has all the talent and hunger to do so.”

The Delhi-born cricketer struggled to score a century in international cricket after the pandemic. He ended his century drought against Afghanistan in last year’s Asia Cup. He also scored hundreds in Test and ODI formats as well.
