ICC World Cup Points Table 2023: Updated Standings, Most Runs, Most Wickets After AUS vs BAN Match 43 & ENG vs PAK Match 44

The ICC World Cup 2023 was host to two games in AUS vs BAN and ENG vs PAK on Saturday (11th November). The first took place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune whereas the second match happened at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
In AUS vs BAN, Australia crushed Bangladesh by 8 wickets as they produced a magnificent performance with both bat and ball. After opting to field first, they restricted the opposition to 306 runs with Sean Abbott and Adam Zampa picking two wickets each.
Bangladesh had a decent outing with the bat as Tanzid Hasan (36) and Litton Das (36) started well. After that Najmul Hossain Shanto (45) and Towhid Hridoy (74) cashed on the start they got. A vital hand from Mahmudullah (32), Mushfiqur Rahim (21), and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (29) powered them to over 300 runs.
Australia were a class apart with the bat. They lost Travis Head early but after that, it was a carnage from them. David Warner (53) slammed a magnificent half-century before Mitchell Marsh (177*) did what he does best. Steve Smith (63*) also hit a half-century as they chased the target inside 45 overs.
In the ENG vs PAK game, England emerged victorious by 93 runs. They batted and bowled magnificently well and ended the tournament on high. Batting first, after winning the toss, they posted a total of 337 runs. Dawid Malan (31) and Jonny Bairstow (59) gave a decent start to the team and set a good platform for the team. They added 82 runs for the opening stand before Ben Stokes (84) and Joe Root (60) slammed magnificent half-centuries as well.
Jos Buttler (27) and Harry Brook (30) played vital cameos in the end that powered England to a total of 337/9. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi picked two wickets whereas Haris Rauf bagged three scalps. Mohammad Wasim Jr and Iftikhar Ahmed also were amongst the wickets.
Pakistan didn’t have a great start with the bat as they lost openers for 10 runs. Babar Azam (38) and Mohammad Rizwan (36) tried to hold the fort but they couldn’t capitalize on the start they got. Saud Shakeel (29) perished early as well but Agha Salman (51) hit a valiant century, which wasn’t enough.
England kept chipping with wickets at regular intervals before Shaheen Afridi (25), Haris Rauf (35) and Mohammad Wasim Jr (16*) entertained the crowd with their hitting. They were all out for just 244 runs and lost the game by 93 runs.

After AUS vs BAN Match 43 & ENG vs PAK Match 44, there wasn’t any major change in the points table. England climbed to 7th spot and qualified for the Champions Trophy. Pakistan ended in 5th. India, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand qualified for the semi-finals.
