ICC World Cup Points Table 2023: Updated Standings, Most Runs, Most Wickets After NZ vs AFG Match 16

NZ vs AFG took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It was the 16th game of the ICC World Cup 2023 and it saw Black Caps thrashing the opposition by 149 runs and registering their fourth consecutive win of the tournament.
New Zealand were asked to bat first and they had a decent start despite losing Devon Conway (20) early. Will Young (54) and Rachin Ravindra (32) batted beautifully and kept the run scoring high. However, they perished after having good starts.
It triggered a mini collapse as New Zealand were left crumbling at 110/4. It was then when Glenn Phillips (71) and Skipper Tom Latham (68) batted staggeringly well and took Afghanistan out of the game. Mark Chapman (25*) struck some lusty blows in the end that powered them to a total of 288/6.
Afghanistan didn’t bat well as it never seemed that they were ever in the game. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (11) and Ibrahim Zadran (14) batted well at the start but after that, nothing went their way. Rahmat Shah (36) and Azmatullah Omarzai (27) batted well but couldn’t continue.
Ikram Alikhil (19*) looked settled and remained stranded at one end whereas the wickets at the other end fell like a pack of cards. Mitchell Santner and Lockie Ferguson picked three wickets each New Zealand bundled out Afghanistan for 139 runs to win the match 149 runs in Chennai.
