ICC World Test Championship 2021-23: Updated Points Table After The 2nd Test Between West Indies And Pakistan.

Pakistan climbed up to the second spot in the current World Test Championship cycle of 2021/23 after their win against West Indies in the second Test at Sabina Park.

On Tuesday, Pakistan defeated West Indies by 109 runs as left-arm pace bowler Shaheen Afridi got his maiden 10-wicket haul in a Test match.

Pakistan won the second Test with Shaheen Afridi leading the bowling attack for them

Afridi, who picked 6/51 in the first innings, continued his mastery with the ball as he claimed another four wickets on the final day as West Indies were bowled out for 219. Hasan Ali (2/37) and spinner Nauman Ali (3/52) complemented Afridi to dismantle the hosts’ batting line-up.

All-rounder Jason Holder fought hard with his 47 runs off 83 balls but was dismissed by Nauman with a slower ball bowled widely outside the off-stump and the former West Indies skipper fell for the trap as he ended up holding it to Fawad Alam at extra cover.

Earlier Alam scored an unbeaten 124 in Pakistan’s first innings which earned him a lot of plaudits for the courageous knock on his comeback.

India leads the World Test Championship 2021-23 points table

Pakistan had lost the first Test by one wicket in what was a nail-biting match where West Indies tail-enders held their nerves to takes their team through the finishing line.

Both Pakistan and West Indies have 12 points in their bag for WTC 2021-23 with India, who is currently playing Test series against England in England, is leading the charts with 14 points.

According to the latest point system of ICC for the World Test Championship, a team that wins a Test match will earn 12 points and a draw will mean both teams share two points each. Earlier the entire series was summed for 120 points and depending upon the results the teams would divide the points.
