ICC World Test Championship 2021-23: Updated Points Table After The 3rd Test Between England And India. The England Cricket Team has won the 3rd Test of the five-match series against India and have now gone on the fourth spot in the WTC points table. Notably, the England Cricket Team beat India by an innings and 76 runs to clinch the third Test of the series.

The ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 began with the England vs India series and both the teams drew the first Test which was held at Nottingham. Team India scripted a historic fight back in the second Test which was played at the Lord’s Cricket Ground and won the Test match by 151 runs.

Now, in the third Test, the Englishmen fought back hard and clinched the third Test by an innings and 76 runs to level the 5-match series 1-1. After this win, the England Cricket Team have gone on the fourth spot in the ICC World Test Championship points table. Team India still leads the points table. Team India have also slipped to the third spot and Pakistan now leads the table.

Having won the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli elected to bat first. However, to team India’s surprise, the entire team was sent back to the pavilion on the first day on just 78 runs. This helped England gain a massive first-innings lead of 354 runs. English captain Joe Root scored a scintillating century for the hosts in the game and team India kept chasing the huge lead throughout.

 

Both Teams Lock Horns In Oval Next

The fourth Test of the series will now take place from September 02 to September 06 at The Oval in London. The series is now poised at 1-1 scoreline and the team that goes on to win the next Test, will take an inevitable lead in the series. Ravichandran Ashwin’s exclusion from the first three games has been a cause of massive concern for team India.

KL Rahul has also looked fragile. Cheteshwar Pujara has retained his place in the side for the fourth Test, courtesy a 91-run innings from him in the second innings of the game.
