Mitchell Starc Named Player of the Match For his Bowling

Before Travis Head stole the spotlight with his explosive batting, Australia had already taken control of the first Test through Mitchell Starc’s brilliance. The left-arm quick ripped through England’s lineup on Day 1, claiming seven wickets to set the tone of the match.

Starc returned in the second innings to add three more dismissals. The 35-year-old completed a ten-wicket match haul as England were bowled out for 164 in the second innings.

Brendan Doggett made an impressive debut with three wickets of his own, while Scott Boland finished with 4 for 33 from 11.4 overs. Notably, England took a 40-run first-innings lead but lost control of the match with reckless shots from their batters.

The Ashes series now moves to Brisbane, where the second Test, a day-night encounter played with the pink ball, is scheduled at the Gabba from December 4 to 8.
