ICC World Test Championship Points Table, WTC Table After SL vs AUS 2nd Test 2025

The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle has ended after the two-match Test series between Australia and Sri Lanka. Australia, who had already sealed their berth in the ICC World Test Championship 2025 final, secured a victory in the final Test to complete a whitewash in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka resumed the fourth day's play at 211/8 at the Galle International Stadium in Galle on Sunday, February 9. The home team was then bowled out for 231 runs in their second innings. They set a 75-run target for Australia following contributions from Angelo Matthews (76) and Kusal Mendis (50).
Australia chased down the target within 17.4 overs. Travis Head, who scored 20 runs off 23 balls, was the only batter dismissed in Australia’s second innings. Usman Khawaja (27) and Marnus Labuschagne (26) guided the team to victory.
Steve Smith, Alex Carey Hit Centuries to Help Australia Gain First-Innings Lead
Earlier in the match, the Dhananjaya de Silva-led team was bowled out for 257 runs after winning the toss. They collapsed from 93/1 to 127/5 in the first innings. Dinesh Chandimal scored 74 runs off 163 balls with six boundaries and one maximum. Kusal Mendis was left stranded on 85 runs.
In response, Australia posted a total of 414 runs in their first innings. Steve Smith and wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey smashed centuries to help the team gain a first-innings lead. Carey scored 156 runs off 188 balls, while Smith added 131 off 254 balls. Prabath Jayasuriya took five wickets for 151 runs.
Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon ran through the Sri Lanka lineup in the second innings. The duo took four wickets each, while Beau Webster bagged two wickets. Dimuth Karunaratne, who was playing his last match for Sri Lanka in international cricket, scored 14 runs before being dismissed by Kuhnemann.

Australia's win percentage has improved from 65.74 to 67.54 after completing the series victory in Sri Lanka. They finished the WTC 2023-25 cycle in second place behind South Africa. Sri Lanka's win percentage reduced from 41.67 to 38.46. They are in sixth place in the World Test Championship standings.
The World Test Championship final 2025 between South Africa and Australia will be played at Lord's Cricket Ground from June 11 to June 15.
