The ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand was marred with poor crowd behaviour on the fifth day.

The New Zealand Cricket Team and especially Ross Taylor, was at the receiving end of racial slurs by a section of the crowd at the Hampshire Bowl.

The incident came to light when a viewer took to Twitter where he tagged the ICC media communications team, appraising them of the racial abuse hurled by a few individuals against the New Zealand team.

“@ClaireFurlong14 @ICCMediaComms hey folks, is there anyone at the ground taking note of crowd behaviour? There is a patron yelling abuse at the NZ team. There’s been some pretty inappropriate stuff throughout the day, including reports of racist abuse directed at LRPL Taylor,” he wrote.

“I wish I were at the ground, but it’s really audible through the live coverage. It’s been mentioned by quite a few viewers here in NZ. Because it’s only a small crowd, it’s transmitting really clearly,” he added.

The ICC immediately took cognizance and communicated the same to its security team.

The security team tracked down two individuals and cordoned them off the stadium within an hour. The ICC’s Media & Communications GM, Claire Furlong, confirmed the development on Twitter.

”Just to let you know, two individuals have been identified and removed from the venue for their conduct. Thanks for taking the time to contact @ajarrodkimber and I, we really don’t stand for that sort of behaviour in cricket,” she wrote.
