Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been two of the best batsmen in the world for the past decade or so. Both the batters have scored heavily against all the oppositions and in all the conditions.

They have been Indian cricket's flagbearers for the last decade. Both Rohit and Virat Kohli are already two of India's most decorated batters of all time. After the legendary MS Dhoni stepped down as the captain, Virat Kohli took charge of the team before he was replaced by Rohit Sharma in 2021.

With both Virat Kohli and Rohit being two of the best batters in the world for several years now. As a result of their stunning exploits on the field, the veteran batters have also fueled a long-standing debate over who is better between them.

The jury is still out on the matter but former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Zahid believes Rohit is better than Kohli. Speaking on ex-Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali's YouTube channel, Zahid said that while Kohli is one of the best in the world, Rohit is better than him. Zahid also went on to hail Rohit as the best batsman in the world at present.

Zahid Mahmood opens up on Indian legends

"Nobody can deny Virat Kohli. However, I'd rate Rohit Sharma higher than Kohli. Rohit is the best batsman in the world at present. He is very courageous against fast bowlers. He is a gifted player. He picks the length very quickly, like how Inzaman-ul-Haq used to do," said Zahid Mahmood.

Both Rohit and Kohli are currently in Sri Lanka for the ongoing three-match ODI series. Rohit has starred with the bat in the series so far by smashing two whirlwind fifties although India are yet to win a game in the series. In the first game, Rohit smashed a 33-ball fifty before hitting a 29-ball fifty in the second game.

On the other hand, Kohli has struggled to find his groove so far. The former India skipper scored 24 runs in the first game before being dismissed for 14 in the second.
