Indian team has definitely sent England on backfoot with the victory in the 2nd Test at Lord’s, however, England’s head coach Chris Silverwood has said that his team is not scared of a little bit of fight in the upcoming games. India defeated England by 151 runs in the 2nd Test, outplaying them in both batting and bowling in the 2nd innings. Setting up a 272-run target for the home team, Indian pacers crushed them to a mere 120-run total.

The match also witnessed some verbal clashes as England players engaged in banter with Jasprit Bumrah when he came out to bat. The England camp was particularly annoyed with Bumrah for attacking James Anderson with short-pitch bouncers in 1st innings. However, irking Bumrah totally backfired for England as the former made an 89-run stand with Mohammed Shami for the 9th wicket, while he himself smacked unbeaten 36.

If India Push Us, We Will Push Back: England Coach Chris Silverwood

Speaking post the defeat in the Lord’s Test, England head coach Chris Silverwood said that they are disappointed with the result but are ready to push back India in the upcoming matches.

“The one thing we’re not scared of is a little bit of a fight. They push us, we push back, to me it creates great Test cricket. We’re disappointed with the result, but what a Test match to watch.

“There has been a little bit of fire in there, emotion from two sets of proud players representing their country. I think it’s great, the guys are getting stuck into this fight and I’m enjoying it,” Chris Silverwood said.

Speaking about the England players irking Jasprit Bumrah that totally backfired for the home team, Silverwood mentioned that they would learn from that.

“Emotions ran high, there’s no doubt about it. Obviously, they targeted Jimmy in that first innings, we went back hard at them as well, and we tried to go toe to toe with them. Maybe it got away from us a little bit when the lower order was in. We’ll learn from that,” Chris Silverwood further said.
