An Indian politician slams the Indian government and the BCCI for allowing the India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025.
The India vs Pakistan match has had repeated blows from the Indian public as well as several influential figures, including politicians. Some have blamed the BCCI, while some have taken a dig at the Indian government for the major disappointment.
The match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for the 14th of September in the UAE, as they are placed in the same group alongside the UAE and Oman. This has been the story of every ICC as well as ACC event ever since the two rivals stopped playing each other in bilaterals.
Indian Politician blasts BCCI over India vs Pakistan Game
Indian political leader MP Priyanka Chaturvedi of the Shiv Sena (UBT) has openly criticized the Indian government as well as the BCCI for scheduling this match; she also claims that this is a major failure for the above-mentioned bodies if the match takes place.
"On India to face Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi says, "If this match happens then it is not just the failure of the government, it is also the failure of BCCI that..." says MP Chaturvedi to ANI News.
"....on one hand today is Kargil Day, today we remember our armed forces and pay tribute to those who died fighting for the country, and on the same day the Interior Minister of Pakistan who is the president of PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) announces that Asia Cup is going to be held in UAE."
"I was a part of the parliamentary delegations under Mission Sindoor, and we had said only one thing: there can be no talk with terror. Till now, those terrorists of Pahalgam are still absconding. Finding them is our priority, it has to be... " she puts forward the real mission of the Indian government and condemns any such participation (Asia Cup) between the two nations.
"When we have cancelled all other cultural relations, blocked their YouTube channels, blocked them on Twitter. Then, in what way is BCCI being allowed to have a match between India and Pakistan? All of us, not only me, but every citizen of the country will oppose this..." added the Shiv Sena MP.
BCCI's real reason revealed behind the India vs Pakistan match
The sources of Cricbuzz near to the BCCI have revealed the real reason behind the Indian Cricket Board agreeing to the India vs Pakistan match in the upcoming schedule.
The board had earlier stalled the participation in the Asia Cup but eventually agreed not only to participate but also to feature in a game against the neighbouring rivals.
India is looking forward to a go-ahead as the official hosts of the 2036 Olympics and is hence making such likely decisions. The rules of the Olympics do not allow any country to be barred from participation in competitions based on race, religion, or political reasons.
Hence, the Indian government and the BCCI have both decided to compromise with the Pakistan Cricket Board and have scheduled the game in the UAE as well.
The Indian Women's Team will also host Pakistan
As far as future India vs Pakistan matches are concerned, the Indian men's team is only going to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup, while the Women's team, on the other hand, will be hosting the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup 2025 alongside Sri Lanka.
It would feature the Pakistani women who would have to travel to India for the ICC tournament; hence, that remains another concern for the two cricket boards. After that, they will feature in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 as well.
