New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson dismissed the concept of a perfect captain as it remains to be a challenging role for any leader of a team.

A smart and steward leader of the team benefits them in the most difficult situations with his astute tactics and decision-making skills.

Kane Williamson -The calm captain

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the best captains of all time for not just winning three ICC titles with the Indian team but for also being calm when the pressure mounted in the game. Williamson is often ranked similarly in Dhoni’s category as was evident after the 2019 World Cup final.

Although the Black Caps lost the title on the boundary count criteria despite levelling the scores with England twice in the match at the Lord’s. However, after the match, Williamson wore a cheerful smile on his face and accepted the fate of the tournament.

If there is a perfect captain, it certainly isn’t me: Kane Williamson

Williamson, who will be leading the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022, said he doesn’t consider himself a perfect captain and it is the set of players who put their efforts into the team’s success.

“I don’t think there is a perfect one (captain), and if there is, it certainly isn’t me. It is pretty much a job and a challenge to be embraced. You can have your ideas and philosophies, but in the end, it needs to marry up with the group voice and then you try and find a place where you can operate harmoniously,” Williamson said on YouTube channel Revsportz.

“I believe it is also important to have really good people around you that are really committed to the cause and the common goal. Here in New Zealand we certainly have that as there are a number of leaders and support staff that play a big role as well,” he added.

SRH will play their first match of the IPL 2022 against Rajasthan Royals on March 29 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune.
