India National Cricket Team fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has extended his contact with the Sussex team in the County Championship. The fast bowler will now be featuring for the the team in 2025 and 2026 County Championship seasons and will be available for the final run-in in both seasons.

Jaydev Unadkat first signed for Sussex in 2023 and had a great outing with the ball. The left-arm fast bowler took 11 wickets in three matches that he played and, after that, was even better in 2024. The fast bowler bagged 22 wickets at an average of 14.40 in five games, helping Sussex win the Division Two title.

The fast bowler would be keen to make a similar kind of impact for the team in the upcoming editions. His second stint with the Sussex came after he was ignored by the BCCI selectors for the Duleep Trophy 2024. He wasn't named in any of the three squads.

On extending his contract with Sussex, Jaydev Unadkat said that after spending some time with the team, he believes that Hove is his home away from home now. While talking about the same, he explained:

"When I came to Hove last year, I wasn't sure what was on offer in the County Championship and how would I adapt to it. But after a few games now, I can definitely say Hove is my home away from home and Good Old Sussex by The Sea has my heart."

Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace was happy with the development of Jaydev Unadkat signing a two-year extension. He highlighted that the pacer's ability on the pitch is sensational and called him one of the nicest guys to have in the team. He elaborated:

"Everyone at Hove is very pleased and excited that Jaydev [Unadkat] has signed a two-year extension and will be returning to the Club for the next two seasons,"

"Jaydev's quality on the pitch has been so evident for everyone else to see, but just as importantly his qualities as a person make him one of the most popular and nicest guys any team could wish for."

Jaydev Unadkat A Domestic Cricket Legend

Jaydev Unadkat is currently captaining Saurashtra in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He has been a veteran in domestic cricket and has been one of the best pacers going around in the Indian domestic circuit.

Unadkat so far has played 119 first-class matches and picked 425 wickets at an average of around 22.88 He has taken 23 five-wicket hauls in his career as well. He also has represented the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the four Tests.

Jaydev Unadkat made his debut on December 16, 2010, and after that was sidelined. He then went on to play the second Test 12 years later and missed 118 Test matches in between, which is the highest by an Indian and second highest in world cricket.

Unadkat, in the four games, has taken 3 wickets. His last appearance for the national team came in the second Test against the West Indies National Cricket Team in July 2023. Since then he has been out of the Indian team and has played in the domestic circuit.
