Young Pakistan fast bowler Ihsanullah has denied his father's allegations regarding the subpar rehabilitation facilities in Swat. Ihsanullah confirmed that his recovery is on track and he is progressing well from his elbow injury.

Ihsanullah hasn't played an international match for a year now. His last international match was an ODI against New Zealand at Rawalpindi in April 2023. He has been one of the finds for Pakistan from PSL. The 21-year-old has the ability to generate good speeds.

Abdul Nasir's request to the PCB to move Ihsanullah to NCA

Recently, Ihsanullah's father Abdul Nasir had publicly requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to move him to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore for better treatment. He had also mentioned that there was a lack of facilities in Swat.

"My son is not receiving adequate care in Swat due to the lack of facilities and qualified doctors. It is crucial for his rehabilitation that he be transferred to the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he can receive the necessary treatment to save his career. I request that he be moved to Lahore to complete his treatment and resume playing," Abdul Nasir had said.

However, the pacer himself cleared all the doubts regarding the lack of facilities in Swat. The 21-year-old stated that he is recovering well from his injury and is on track to be fully fit. He requested the PCB to continue his rehab and was confident of making a comeback.

"My rehab in Swat is going well, and I am confident of making a comeback soon. The bend in my elbow and the angle of my straight arm are improving significantly. However, a report surfaced in the media claiming that my rehab isn't going well. I urge the PCB to allow me to continue my rehab in Swat, as the recovery here is on the right track," the pacer said.

The young fast pacer then remembered the initial stages of the injury and explained how it increased. He added that he played the New Zealand series despite the pain as he did not realize the extent of the injury.

“The issue I faced, occurred during the New Zealand home series, and it happened during Ramadan. On the first day, everything went well; there was no pain in my shoulder. However, on the second day, I fell, and I didn't realize it at the time. Later, when I went to the nets for bowling, I felt pain in my elbow after putting extra force on the first ball."

"I played the series despite the pain. I wasn't sure what was happening, and I thought if it's a ligament issue, it can be treated. I was trying to play despite slight discomfort because the Afghanistan series was coming up, followed by the Asia Cup, and I wanted to be fit for those,” he elaborated.

Ihsanullah's last international match

The pacer had sustained an elbow injury after a white-ball series against New Zealand at home in April last year. However, the PCB did not take the injury seriously. The injury became more serious after the young fast bowler did some intense gym sessions which also involved lifting weights.

He immediately left for the United Kingdom to receive further medical treatment. He met an orthopedic surgeon, who specialized in sports injuries and elbow procedures. The controversy occurred after Ihsanullah's PSL team owner Ali Tareen accused the PCB of not providing the player required treatment on time.
