Former Indian cricket team batsman Ambati Rayudu made a U-turn from his decision to enter politics and resigned from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSR Congress) eight days after he joined the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led party. However, now Rayudu has issued a clarification over his sudden step and stated that he doesn’t want to be politically involved when he plays the professional sport.

Actually, Ambati Rayudu has made a return to the Mumbai Indians franchise after 2017 and will be seen playing for the MI Emirates in the ILT20 2024. The second edition of the ILT20 starts on January 19, 2024. Rayudu went to his ‘X’ handle and informed about the same.

Ambati Rayudu gives clarification over quitting politics

Ambati Rayudu wrote in his tweet, “I Ambati Rayudu will be representing the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming ILt20 from jan 20th in Dubai. Which requires me to be politically non affiliated whilst playing professional sport.”

Ambati Rayudu joined the Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress on December 28 and was expected to contest the Loksabha election from Guntur. Rayudu took this step after Reddy launched a 45-day sports festival in Andhra Pradesh.

However, Rayudu surprised everyone by announcing that he would be taking a break from politics and would inform about his plans soon. His explanation was very much quicker than everyone expected.

Rayudu retired from the Indian Premier League and international cricket after the IPL 2023 final. Rayudu was able to lift the fifth IPL trophy of his career when CSK defeated Gujarat Titans in the final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Ambati Rayudu has played a total of 204 matches in the Indian Premier League and scored 4348 runs at an average of 28.20. Rayudu also hit a total of 22 half-centuries and one hundred throughout his IPL career and proved to be a key player for the Chennai Super Kings.

However, Ambati Rayudu is also considered as one of the most unlucky cricketers in the Indian cricket team as he was not granted a place in the 2019 ODI World Cup squad despite having a decent ODI performance and record. Rayudu has played a total of 55 ODIs for India and has scored 1694 runs at an average of 47.00.

Ambati Rayudu is one of the most humble and gentle cricketers in the Indian cricket team and the IPL has also played a major role in his entry into the Indian team. Rayudu began his IPL career for Mumbai Indians in 2010 and has played many effective knocks for them and won team matches on his own.

Now, when Ambati Rayudu returns to the Mumbai Indians franchise, he will want to perform the same way he used to do in the Indian Premier League and win want them to win their maiden title of the tournament.
