Suryakumar Yadav from the post-match conference of the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup final has dismissed talk of poor form with the bat and has rather highlighted the team's success, claiming that they have achieved what they wanted.

India defeated Pakistan thrice in the Asia Cup 2025, and under Suryakumar Yadav's leadership, India went on to win their 9th title in the Asia Cup. This win would largely boost Surya's confidence as a skipper ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2025.

“I feel I am not out of form, I feel I am out of runs," claimed Suryakumar Yadav

Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored just 72 runs in the 6 innings he played in the Asia Cup for India. Except for an unbeaten 47* against Pakistan, SKY could not bring out his best in the Asia Cup.

However, despite his average dropping to 18 and a strike rate of 101.41, Suryakumar feels he is not out of touch but rather out of runs. He has shown some remarkable confidence as a batter.

“I feel I am not out of form, I feel I am out of runs," Suryakumar said in the post-match press conference, after his side secured a five-wicket win over Pakistan in Dubai to win the title. “I believe more in what I am doing in the nets and my preparation. So in matches, things are on autopilot."

Abhishek Sharma praises Suryakumar Yadav's leadership qualities

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma was the best find for India in this Asia Cup. This time around, Abhishek showed why he can dominate any opposition in the world. The batter scored 300+ runs in 7 games and scored three 70+ scores with a blistering strike rate of over 200.

Abhishek was all praise for his captain as he said Suryakumar Yadav never lets his batting form affect his usual attitude of captaincy.

“I’ve felt personally that when you are not scoring runs, it is difficult to take the team along. But Surya bhai is the same irrespective of whether he has scored runs or not," Abhishek said in the press conference.

“What we wanted to achieve in this tournament, we have achieved," stated the Indian skipper

However, despite all the criticism over his batting form, the Indian skipper was pleased with how his side responded to various moments of pressure throughout the tournament. He also claimed that their efforts throughout the tournament led to a 'perfect final.'

"What we wanted to achieve in this tournament, we have achieved," he said. “There are a lot of things that you don’t get to achieve in a bilateral tournament. This was like a knockout tournament," Suryakumar stated.

India did not lose a single game in the Asia Cup, and ever since Suryakumar Yadav took over the Indian captaincy, they have never lost a bilateral series against any opposition.

"As soon as we entered the Super Four, I told the boys that let’s approach it like a quarter-final, semi-final and final. So we played a semi-final type of game against Sri Lanka, and then it was a perfect final. There are nerves, responsibility and pressure, and it was a perfect final," SKY concluded.
