As abusive messages began reaching the Gujarat Titans assistant coach, Vijay Dahiya took to Instagram to clarify that he had no connection with the political activist.

Gujarat Titans assistant coach Vijay Dahiya shared an Instagram Story asking users to stop sending abusive messages, making it clear that he is not the individual involved in the CJP controversy. His Instagram Story read:

The clarification attracted attention on social media as many users had mistaken the Gujarat Titans assistant coach for the sacked CJP spokesperson because of the similarity in their names.
Vijay Dahiya is a former Indian wicketkeeper who represented the national team in two Tests and 19 ODIs between 2000 and 2001. He was also a member of India's squad that finished runners-up at the 2000 ICC Champions Trophy.
Born in Delhi on May 10, 1973, Dahiya enjoyed a successful domestic career before moving into coaching. He guided Delhi to the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy title, ending the team's 16-year wait for the championship. He has also worked with Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL before joining Gujarat Titans as assistant coach. He currently serves as the head coach of the Uttar Pradesh cricket team and as Gujarat Titans' assistant coach.
During his international career, Dahiya scored 216 runs in 19 ODIs, including one half-century, while also playing two Test matches for India.
