Another injury threat for the Pakistan National Cricket Team in their ongoing Test series against England in England. After the injury to Babar Azam, another batter, Imam-ul-Haq, has reportedly been injured himself on the opening day of the Lord's Test; therefore, he is unlikely to open the innings for Pakistan in the first innings of the match.
According to a Cricinfo report, the Pakistan cricket team opener has sustained a low-grade calf strain while fielding in the ongoing match in London. Regarding the injury to their top-order batter, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued an update, which is not very exciting for the Men in Green fans.
Pakistan's Imam-ul-Haq sustained a calf injury in the ongoing England vs Pakistan Lord's Test match.
Through an official update on August 28, PCB informed that Imam-ul-Haq has an injury in his left calf muscle. Medical scans were done, and the board came to know that the batter's participation in the Lord's Test will be subject to his recovery. Currently, he is under medical observation.
Pakistan faced a batting collapse in the Leeds Test against the England pacers
Pakistan started their England tour with a brutal defeat against the home team. The England pace bowling attack took no time to demolish the touring team's batting order. In both of the innings, English bowlers dominated the Pakistan batters in the previous match, which was in Leeds.
Babar Azam missed the previous match in Leeds because of an injury. Ahead of the match, the skipper of Pakistan's Test cricket team injured his hand and was ruled out of the match. Without Babar in the line-up, the Three Lions found it easy to claim a win over Pakistan.
Imam-ul-haq has batted significantly well in England so far on the tour
Imam-ul-haq is another batter in the Pakistan cricket team who has the potential to sustain the seaming conditions in English conditions. If his calf injury turns serious after medical support, then he will not be able to return to the field for batting, which will reduce the team's batting strength significantly.
Haq looked promising in the previous few innings in England. Before the series opener, Pakistan was up against PCC Select for a practice match. Imam-ul-haq scored 37 and an unbeaten 80 in the first and second innings of the practice match. In the first innings of the Leeds match, the 30-year-old missed his half-century by only eight runs, dismissed for 42.
