Speaking on The Telegraph, the sons of Imran Khan talked about the reports that claimed that the PCB threatened to withdraw their team from the second Test match against England, which was at Lord's only because of the Sky Sports interview. Pakistan National Cricket Team ultimately played the match, but PCB's stance remains debatable. Pakistan is set to play the third Test against England in Birmingham.
PCB reportedly threatened to withdraw the team from the Lord's Test
Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB was reportedly not happy with the interview of Sulaiman and Kasim, as they might have sensed something political in the interaction. According to the previously published reports, Sky Sports delayed the interview but made sure it went on air. The interview went on air during the Lunch break of the Lord's Test on Day 1.
To avoid any further controversies, the cricket board directed all of the players and the memebers involving the Test cricket team in England to shut their mouths regarding the interview and Imran Khan, the World Cup-winning former Pakistan captain and the former Prime Minister of the nation, who is behind bars on allegations of massive corruption.
The government of Pakistan is accused of not providing Imran Khan basic medical support
In a Sky Sports interview, Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan claimed that the Pakistan government denied providing even basic amenities, including medical care, to their father. If their claims are to be believed, then the present Pakistan government is keeping Imran Khan in a small cell for most of the day without providing medical assistance.
Raising concerns over Imran's health, 21 former captains across the nations, including Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Greg Chappell, and Michael Atherton, sent a jointly signed letter to Pakistan to ensure Imran Khan's medical welfare for the sake of humanity.
Imran Khan's son calls PCB 'Fool'
While the former cricketers requested Pakistan to ensure Imran's medical facility, his son issued burning statements again targeting the PCB. According to Kasim, thinking of withdrawing the team only because of an interview was nothing but a foolish approach.
“They made absolute fools of themselves," Kasim told The Telegraph.
Kasim's brother Sulaiman also said the same. He thought some sort of response from the cricket board, but did not expect the CB could think about withdrawing the team from the match.
“I was expecting some sort of response," Sulaiman added. “But I didn't think they would be so tactless as to threaten not to take to the field. It shouldn't be in the remit of the Pakistan Cricket Board to ask for an interview about an ex-Pakistan player, somebody who lived in England for 22 years, to be taken down. This wasn't about politics, but about the humanitarian situation and his health."
