Serbian Tennis legend Novak Djokovic who is all set to vie for a record 11th Australian Open Grand Slam title this month has responded to India’s batting ace Virat Kohli for his kind words through a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) which was posted by the BCCI’s official handle.

Virat Kohli revealed quite a lot about his admiration for Djokovic and how he takes inspiration from him. He also opened up about how 2 of the greatest athletes of all time started talking to each other on Instagram with Virat expressing his desire to have a cup of coffee with him shortly.

It all started after Novak Djokovic had posted an appreciation post for Virat Kohli a while ago in which the former had said, “Virat Kohli and I have been texting for a few years but we never got a chance to meet in person. It was a privilege and honor to listen to him speak nicely about me. I admire his career and achievements.” 

And it was in Djokovic’s response that Kohli hopped on that video and praised the Serbian. The 35-year-old said that one day he was just going through his Instagram handle before tapping on the message option. As soon as Virat Kohli opened the chat, he saw Djokovic had already texted him and that’s how they “organically” became friends.

Kohli also revealed that both of them keep exchanging texts now and then often congratulating each other for the success they have tasted. He also praised him for his exceptional mindset and training routines, something Virat Kohli himself is known for.

The highest run-getter of the Cricket World Cup 2023 wished luck to Djokovic for the first grand slam of the year before also revealing that Australia, where the Serbian will be in action in the next days, as his favorite place to play cricket and hailed Australians for their willingness to witness fierce competition and respecting sporting spectacles.

When someone like Virat Kohli is all praise for someone, then they have to respond and so did Novak Djokovic. The Serbian superstar thanked him for sending him best wishes and kind words and also affirmed a day to play cricket and tennis together.

A couple of days ago, Djokovic was seen trying his hand at cricket with Australia’s Steve Smith in a tennis court at the land down under. Smith too was seen playing with the racquet but it will be one to watch when Virat Kohli and Novak Djokovic play together, the internet will blow up.
