The 30-year-old Dube said that Dhoni, Michael Hussey, and head coach Stephen Fleming have shown enough faith in him to go out there and play freely. “The credit goes to the CSK team and Mahi bhai because I have always had the game in me. But bringing out the best from a player is something done by CSK,” Dube was quoted as saying on Jio Cinemas.
“All the things they have given me, the confidence, they have told me that ‘Shivam, you can score runs in the IPL, don’t worry, we believe in you’. And many others, like Mike Hussey and Fleming, told me that they have faith in me. It was there in my mind,” he added.
Shivam Dube Stitched 92 Runs With Yashasvi Jaiswal In The Second T20I
Shivam Dube smashed 63 off 32 balls in the second T20I against Afghanistan and helped India chase down a target of 173 and win the match by six wickets. He was at his very best in the second game at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. This was his second consecutive and third overall T20I half-century. Shivam Dube smashed five fours and four sixes in his innings of 63.
After India lost Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli inside the powerplay, Shivam Dube joined hands with Yashasvi Jaiswal and stitched a 92-run partnership for the third wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal was another positive for Team India in the second T20I as he scored 68 off 34 balls which included five fours and six sixes. Shivam Dube was the Player of The Match in the first T20I which was played in Mohali where he scored 60 off 40 deliveries.
Shivam Dube has been delivering for India in this series and if he carries this form in the IPL then he can expect a call-up from the Indian Team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is also in the contention for T20 World Cup as he is expected to be fit by IPL. Hardik will be leading the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming season of the IPL and currently, he is rigorously training to regain his full fitness ahead of the IPL.
India will face Afghanistan in the third T20I at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on January 17, Wednesday. The Men in Blue are undefeated in the last 15 T20I series at home and they will be looking to whitewash the Afghans in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
