Ace Indian batter Virat Kohli, known for his extraordinary batting skills, is preparing for the team’s second match of the ICC World Cup 2023. Head coach Rahul Dravid and young opener Shubman Gill praised Kohli ahead of the upcoming match against Afghanistan.

Virat Kohli played a vital role in the Men in Blue’s victory against Australia in the first match of the marquee tournament. The right-handed batter scored 85 runs off 116 deliveries, contributing to the team’s convincing 6-wicket victory in Chennai on Sunday, October 8.

Virat Kohli Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s All-Time Record

Virat broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most runs by an Indian in ICC white-ball tournaments. Kohli achieved this milestone during his 67th match for India. He scored 2785 runs in 64 innings at an impressive average of 65.23, including two centuries and 25 fifties.

Tendulkar previously held the record for leading run-getter for India in limited-overs ICC events (World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy). The former cricketer scored 2,719 runs in 58 innings at an average of 52.28, including seven centuries and 16 fifties.
