As India gear up to take on Afghanistan in the ninth match of the ongoing 2023 World Cup, Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq are hogging all the limelight. The India and Afghanistan stars will be up against each other in a competitive game for the first time since their infamous altercation in May earlier this year.

The IPL 2023 clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore was marred by the furious spat between Virat Kohli and Naveen. It all began when the LSG pacer came out to bat. Virat Kohli asked his teammate Mohammed Siraj to bowl bouncers to Naveen and the Afghanistan pacer took offense. He and the RCB star were then seen exchanging a few words.

The batting superstar was also seen making a derogatory gesture with his shoe towards Naveen. The altercation continued after the game too as Naveen refused to shake hands with the former RCB captain. And moments later, LSG Gautam Gambhir got involved in the spat as well. He had a furious exchange with Virat Kohli before the two were separated by other players.

Even after the game, both Virat Kohli and Naveen took digs at each other indirectly through their Instagram stories. Naveen was also targeted by fans during other IPL games as they chanted Virat Kohli’s name to get under his skin.

Meanwhile, India and Afghanistan have had contrasting starts to their 2023 World Cup campaigns. While India began their campaign with a hard-fought six-wicket win over five-time world champions Australia, Afghanistan faced a six-wicket defeat against Bangladesh. India will be looking to extend their winning start while Afghanistan will be eyeing a huge upset in order to open their account. The match is scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday (October 11).
