IND vs AFG: Watch - Rohit Sharma Goes Unorthodox, Smashes Audacious Reverse Sweeps

After two consecutive ducks in two matches, Indian captain Rohit Sharma came back with a bang and slammed a century during the third IND vs AFG T20I match. The Indian cricket team after winning the toss and deciding to bat first were in trouble and were reduced to 22/4 at one stage. However, Rohit along with Rinku Singh brought the Indian innings back on track.
While Rohit Sharma reached a half-century, the Indian captain played one of the most unorthodox shots to reach the 50-run mark. During the sixth ball of the 13th over, Rohit hit a reverse sweep towards the point region to complete his half-century. Before that, he hit a brilliant revere sweep for a six. The Indian fans have seen Sharma playing sweep shots, but the reverse sweep is something very rare from the Indian captain.
Rohit Sharma was dismissed for two back-to-back ducks during the first two matches of the IND vs AFG T20I series. In the first match, Rohit was unlucky and fell to a horrible run-out courtesy of Shubman Gill, however in the second match, Sharma got out while trying to attack the bowler.

Rohit Sharma is an absolute ‘boss’ player in the T20Is and has hit a total of 5 hundreds. The ‘Hitman’ has a wide range of shots and hits them very effortlessly. Sharma has played a total of 151 matches in T20I cricket and has scored over 3932 runs at an average of over 30.96.
Rohit Sharma was away from the T20I format for the last 14 months. Before the IND vs AFG T20I series, Sharma played his last T20I match against England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022. India faced a 10-wicket loss against the Three Lions and since then Rohit along with Virat Kohli was away from the shortest international format.
While Rohit Sharma stayed away from the T20Is, India was led by Hardik Pandya in the shorter format who showcased great results. It was believed that if Rohit didn’t play the T20 World Cup 2024, Pandya would have led India in the major ICC tournament, however, his return will boost India’s campaign in the tournament.
India will begin their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland on June 5 whereas they are slated to face, Pakistan, the USA, and Canada in their upcoming matches. The Indian team have not won the T20 World Cup since 2007 and will want to bring the trophy back home after a gap of 16 years.
Getting back to the IND vs AFG T20I series, India would aim to win the match against Afghanistan and whitewash the visitors by 3-0. India got off to dominating wins in the previous two games when they defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets in both games. India showcased an absolute powerhouse of cricket and would look forward to delivering the same in the 3rd match.
India would play against England in a five-match Test series from January 25 whereas the players will engage in the Indian Premier League 2024.
