Sanju Samson Pulls Off Brilliant Stumping
PC: X

Sanju Samson might not have had a brilliant outing with the bat in the IND vs AFG 3rd T20I, but the right-handed wicket-keeper batsman showcased some brilliant keeping skills. Samson removed Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran courtesy of his lighting stumping. Zadran was removed for 50 runs from 41 balls and bit 4 fours and 1 six.

During the 4 ball of the 13th over, Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar fired the ball down the leg witnessing Ibrahim Zadran stepping down. It was brilliant anticipation from Samson and he moved down towards the leg side to collect the ball. Samson moved too much to collect the ball but in the end was able to remove the bails and end Zadran’s stay at the crease.

Washington Sundar continued his magic and got rid of Azmatullah Omarzai for a duck whereas he removed Mohammad Nabi for 34 runs.

Sanju Samson was dismissed for a golden duck after returning to the T20I format. Samson was caught by Mohammad Nabi and fell to Afghanistan pacer Fareed Ahmad. Samson has only scored 54 runs in his last 4 T20I innings whereas he has hit 374 runs from 25 T20I matches at an average of under 20.

Nonetheless, the right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman made headlines once more when he scored the game-winning hundred in December 2023. In the third ODI of the series, Samson struck 108 runs off of 114 balls, leading India to a 296/8 first-inning total. India managed to win the series 2-1 and that match by a score of 78 runs.

Sanju Samson will try to perform well and earn a spot in the team for the T20 World Cup 2024 now that he has returned to the Indian T20I team. The Indian team will seek to take maximum advantage of their final Twenty20 International match before the T20 World Cup, which is against AFG.

In the Indian Premier League, Sanju Samson will be leading the Rajasthan Royals once more. Even though Sanju’s career record in Twenty20 international cricket doesn’t quite live up to his expectations, the Kerala batsman in the Indian Premier League is a different performer.

In 152 matches, Sanju Samson has amassed 3888 runs in the lucrative league. Throughout his IPL career, Samsom has amassed three hundreds and twenty half-centuries. Since 2017, Samson has routinely scored more than 350 runs in each IPL season. He plans to maintain this trend in the next competition. Samson also guided the Rajasthan Royals to the 2022 IPL Finals, where they ultimately fell to the Gujarat Titans.

On the other hand, if we get back to the match, the Indian cricket team will want to whitewash Afghanistan after winning the match in Bengaluru.

The IND vs AFG 3rd T20I match is the last T20I for India ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament is set to start on June 1 and India will face Ireland in their first group match on June 5. India would also take on Pakistan, USA, and Canada in their remaining group matches.

India won the last T20 World Cup in the year 2007 and would hope to reclaim the trophy after 16 long years.
