Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq issued a strong warning to the Indian team ahead of the T20I series between the teams. He said that they will carry the momentum of the ICC World Cup 2023 and are confident of doing well in the series.

Afghanistan are all set to lock horns with India in the three-match T20I series. The series will begin on 11th January in Mohali followed by a second match to be played in Indore on 14th January. The last game is slated to take place in Bengaluru on 17th January.

It promises to be an exciting series as Afghanistan in the last few years have upped their game and have displayed magnificent performances. India on the other hand has named a full-strength team and the competition between bat and ball is expected to be high.

Naveen-ul-Haq will be the key player for Afghanistan in the series. He has built a reputation of a T20 expert and has gained huge exposure by playing in the leagues across the world. He’s expected to lead the bowling attack in the three games.

With Rashid Khan being ruled out of the series, Naveen-ul-Haq becomes extremely important for the team. His ability to swing the new ball and bowl slower in the middle overs and the death would be needed for Afghanistan. If his side has to fancy their chances of winning, he needs to step up.

Naveen-ul-Haq is pretty confident ahead of the series. He said that Afghanistan are the dominating team in the T20 format and they are confident of doing good against India. The pacer also has his eyes set on the T20 World Cup 2024. Speaking to TOI, he explained:

“Afghanistan are renowned for T20 cricket. Afghanistan are dominant when it comes to T20 cricket. We are high on confidence after a good show in the ODI World Cup. We are sure that we will carry on the same momentum in the upcoming series (vs India) and later on in the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and USA.”

Naveen-ul-Haq further opened up about their preparations for the India series. He said that they are well prepared and are working hard towards their goal. The fast bowler is fully confident that his team will be ready by the time T20 World Cup 2024 arrives. He explained:

“We have prepared ourselves really well. We are all working hard towards the goal. We have a few series before the World Cup,including the India series, and we will be ready by the time the World Cup arrives.”

Afghanistan will be one of the teams to watch out for in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. They have played a sensational brand of cricket and were at the top of the game in the World Cup 2023, where they defeated the likes of England and Pakistan. They would be hoping to deliver an even better performance in the next tournament and make a strong statement.
