Australia spinner Nathan Lyon has said that he is ready to play for Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 if the team needs more spinners in the tournament. Nathan Lyon also said that he has informed head coach Andrew McDonald about the same.
Nathan Lyon is a powerful spinner for Australia. However, he only plays in Tests and last played an ODI in 2019. Recently, Ashton Agar was ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2023 due to injury. This has made Adam Zampa the lone key spinner for Australia at the World Cup.

Nathan Lyon faced a severe injury during Ashes 2023 but has recovered from the same. While speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, the right-arm spinner said that he is ready to play for Australia in the World Cup if the team needs him.
“I sent Andrew McDonald a text message the other day when I saw Ashton Agar was ruled out. I said, ‘just to let you know, I’m back bowling 10 overs, I’m right to go, 100 percent’. If that happened I’d do anything to go over and play the World Cup,” the off-spinner said.

“I’d be more than comfortable going in there and doing it if I had to. But in saying that there has to be a lot of things go wrong, so let’s hope for Australia’s sake that doesn’t happen. Hopefully, they go out there and have a really good campaign and make sure they go over there to achieve what they’ve gone over there to do,” the Aussie spinner further said.
