India had a dreadful start with the bat and were under real pressure. Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer bagged ducks and the hosts were tottering at 2/3. But after that, it was KL Rahul (97*) and Virat Kohli (85) show as the duo soaked in all the pressure and took the game away from Australia. They added 165 runs in partnership.

Captain Rohit Sharma credited Virat Kohli and KL Rahul for their magnificent batting and said that hats off to them for their efforts.

“Credit to Virat and KL on how they went about the chase. That is going to be the challenge for us as a team, moving to different conditions and adapting, whoever suits the conditions will have to come and do the job. Chennai never disappoints, they love their cricket and for them to sit in that heat and come out and cheer for the team says a lot.”

India will next be seen in action on 11th October when they will take on Afghanistan in Delhi.
